Name: Rohan Fulminé
Player: LockonLockon (Carlos)
Spoken Quote Color: "I have neither time nor patience for someone who doesn't fight their own battles."
Skimming the Surface
Age: 21
Race: Human, Planeswalker
Gender: Male
Appearance: He has tan skin and shoulder-length black hair. He's about 5'10" and lean-muscled, and has distinctive red eyes. Rohan has a taste for fine clothing, habitually wearing the nicest outfit that is practical for the occasion. As such, even when in the middle of a fight with some upstarts or a rival clan, he is often wearing a suit, tie, and gloves. We always wears red shirts to avoid ruining them with bloodstains.
He carries a curved longsword with him at all times, rarely forgoing it for a weapon more in keeping with the local styles, but if he deems it necessary he will set it aside. When anticipating a great battle ahead of him, he has a suit of half-plate armor that he can summon, but he must still don it normally.
Delving Secrets
Home Plane: Stormriver, Marsica
Mana Alignment: Red, secondarily white.
Specialization: Rohan is a skilled and prodigal battlemage, who is versed in styles from many planes, and is rarely faced with a fighter who can best him, though many still pose a challenge. He weaves together sword and sorcery in a manner that makes it seem as though the two were meant to go hand in hand, existing forever in harmony. His specialty is speed and agility, preferring to outsmart and outmaneuver his opponent to brute force. His spell-casting skills are greatest in the realm of electromancy, a mark of his clan. His summoning skills are limited to elementals, or his personal band of rogues and warriors.
He is furthermore a skilled tactician, able to coordinate assaults with large teams of soldiers, warriors, even mere peasants. Though his strategic skills are fine indeed, he is not yet as skilled in warcraft as his Nephalian mentor, Odric Rothschild.
Personality: Rohan’s default expression is very stern and somewhat tired looking, so he seems intimidating. In actuality, he's very kindhearted and empathetic, and loves bad jokes. However, he is often quick to anger when someone is being frustrating and especially when someone is hurting people he cares about. While he is kind, that does not imply he is lacking a vengeful streak. He has no love for people who cross him, and will go to any ends to harm them or make them suffer.
Given the culture of his upbringing, he also has no heeds for unnecessary laws, believing only in the laws that protect those who need their protection. Extending from this, he believe that nobles and merchants that hide behind the protection of law, or use it to subjugate the poor or needy, are the most despicable of all. As the scion of his home's ruling clan, he firmly believes that a ruler should fight his own wars, face his own enemies, and most of all be certain to provide for those who cannot do so themselves.
Rohan has a sense of honor, as one would expect from a man who spent his adolescence among soldiers, but it is not a typical one, due to an equal part of his upbringing being spent raised by and fighting rogues. He believes in protecting the weak, but at the same time, he will never give a sucker an even break. Many knights and samurai who mentored him balk at his deceptive and sometimes drastic tactics, but he maintains that if a battle's worth fighting, you should do whatever is necessary to win it. A friend of his, Raine Levente from the plane Gartaine, warns that this desperation may one day cause him to walk down a path from which he cannot return. But Rohan maintains that he has his limits, though when asked, he will never say.
Raine will also tell you that he has a weakness for sweets, and that he often finds himself in any bakery that serves something that even vaguely resembling pastries.
Rohan neither confirms nor denies.
Backstory:
On the plane of Marsica, where the elements clash and take new life, there is a land of steppes covered in rolling meadows and rushing rivers, which turn into dazzling falls when they meet the cliff’s edge. The weather shifts between pleasantly windy on sunny days, to a symphony of crashing thunder and pouring rains. This place is Stormriver, a city-state home to enterprising criminals, ingenious artificers, and lively elementals. Once upon a time the province was in complete chaos. The bandits and thieves who made their home in the sides of the cliffs made life impossible for normal folk. Then one day, a bandit and stormcaller named Kendrick Fulminé decided there would be a change. He gathered his gang, his family, and all who agreed with his agenda and took on every criminal they could find. The proposal was a simple one, follow Kendrick’s rule and only do the jobs his people approve, and they could live. But as soon as they step out of line, there would be hell to pay. After many coercions and battles, Kendrick took control of the city, and turned it into a haven for both criminals who would act in the neighboring cities, and the families who had found no kindness in those same cities’ governments.
Stolen goods found their way into stores where the needy could buy them on the cheap, and carts of stolen bread made the rounds to feed those who had yet to find employment. Decades passed, and the appeal of Stormriver attracted artificers who could create freely without government interference, and eventually the elementals that were often born in the storms and fires of the region made home there, some of them joining the Fulminé clan.
Rohan Fulminé is the eldest grandson of Kendrick Fulminé, and the heir apparent to the family business. The role was passed on to him by his cousin, Eira, who left the family to become a merchant. A legitimate one. Rohan did not mind the responsibility, but did not feel initially that he deserved the position. One day, while training with his martial arts teacher in the fields, Rohan was struck by a bolt from the blue, and this caused his Planeswalker spark to ignite. Still but 9 years old, Rohan would use his powers to play in new places every day he could, often stealing the most interesting things he could find and bringing them home to sell to artificers or wizards who could replicate it. As he grew older, he decided to use his powers to become more ready to fill his Grandfather’s shoes. He travelled from plane to plane, learning about the arts of war, lightning magic, and how to summon elementals. He studied in the Boros Legion, with the Cathars of Innistrad, and among the samurai of Kamigawa. By his 19th birthday, Rohan was a fighter without equal and the best battlemage Stormriver had seen since his Mother.
To this day, Rohan wanders the planes aimlessly, seeking ways to occupy his time. What this means exactly is known only to him.
